Summary: The U.S. Mission in Kingston, Jamaica is
seeking eligible and
qualified applicants for the position of Special Consular Services Assistant for the U.S.
Consular Agency located in Georgetown, Grand Cayman.
The work schedule for this position is:
• Part Time (number of hours per week – e.g.
25 hours per week)
Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (four
weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their
candidacy may end.
Supervisory Position: No
Duties: Serves as the
sole Consular
Assistant and the first point of contact for U.S.
citizens seeking services at the Cayman Island Consular Agency.
Provides passport, citizenship,
and
special Consular
services to U.S. citizens
in the Cayman Islands. Prepares and transmits reports as required
by the U.S. Embassy in
Kingston. Serves as office administrator, evaluating supplies,
submitting purchase requests,
and
tracking receiving of
goods. As
sub-cashier, assesses, collects, and
records service fees. Performs
other tasks for the Agency that
do not require
a Consular
commission. Works
under the direct
supervision of the Consular Agent.
Qualifications and Evaluations
EDUCATION: A minimum of
two years of
college studies
is required.
Requirements:
EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of two years of progressively responsible administrative experience,
maintaining files/records, working with
a computer, and having
extensive contact with the public is
required.
Evaluations:
LANGUAGE:
Level IV (Fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing of English
is required.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must have excellent office skills, including typing; basic computer literacy; good
working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and other software applications. Must have strong interpersonal
skills, the ability to work under pressure, and ability
to solve problems with
limited
supervision. Must exercise
good judgment and excellent
customer service skills,
particularly when dealing with the public.
Qualifications: All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical
and
security certifications.

applicant. The certification letter should be on letterhead
of
the appropriate military branch of the service and contain (1) the military service dates
including the expected discharge or release date; and (2) the character of service. Acceptable documentation must be submitted in order for the preference to
be given.
** This level of preference applies to all Foreign Service employees on LWOP and CS with re- employment rights back to their agency or bureau.
