Job Purpose

 

Under  the direct  supervision  of  the Director  1,  Overseas WorkerSavingProgramme,  the incumbent will check payment listings and review Ledger Accounts.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

         Checks  and  verifies  Bank  of  Jamaica  (BoJ)  statement  against  the  Overseas  Farm

Workers’ lodgements and withdrawals;

     Communicates with the Bank of Jamaica when there is an error in the debit and credit of transaction or a missing transaction sheet;

     Assists in the determination of the correct balance in each of the five main accounts namely: A.W.C. Frozen account, Farm-Workers no savings accounts, recruiting expense

and Transmittals accounts since September 2009;

         Calculates the savings and relevant data regarding Overseas Workers;

     Checks  transmittals  for  mathematical  and  spelling  errors  and  ensures  that  they  are balance;

         Responds to queries regarding savings via telephone;

         Checks and verifies transmittals to prepare bank list;

         Communicates with liaison officers overseas by fax messages, emails and telephone;

     Researches documents for farm-workers who have travelled on the programme for a number of years and have not yet received their savings;

         Provides  savings  information  to  Local  Office  and  assists  in  calculating  farm-workers

savings;

         Liaison with bank by supplying farm-workers queries pertaining to their savings;

         Prepares letters prescribed by the Director 1, Overseas Workers Savings Programme;

         Performs any other duties assigned from time to time.

 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies

 

         Ability to work in a team

         Excellent interpersonal skills

         Knowledge of Government Payroll and Administration

 

 

Minimum Required Qualification and Experience

 

         AAT Level 2, or;

         ACCA-CAT Level B, or;

         Certificate in Accounting from a recognized University, or;


 

 

         Completion of second year in Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting/Management

Studies or BBA at a recognized University, or;

         Associate of Science Degree in Accounting, MIND, or:

         Government Accounting Level 2 Modules 1 5.
