Job Purpose


Under the direct supervision of the Senior Food Storage Scientist (TIU), the Information Technology Officer (MIS/IT 4) is responsible for providing Information, Technology and Administrative support to ensure that the Divisions objectives are met.



Key Responsibilities



     Ensures that the FSPID Division is compliant with ISO 9001:2008 standards and obtains certification;

         Attends meetings and events, as required by the Division/Ministry;

         Administers in-house training of staff;

         Maintains a culture of teamwork and cohesion within the FSPID.


Technical Professional:

         Provides End-User support to MICAF staff;

     Assists  with  conducting  Risk  Assessment  to  identify  User  vulnerabilities  and  makes recommendations to the System Administrator;

     Assists with the monitoring of network and its components to prevent activities that could compromise the network;

     Develops, implements, administers and maintains policies and procedures to ensure the security and integrity of the various database applications held by Divisions in the Ministry;

     Resolves database performance and capacity issues, replication and other distributed data issues;

     Assists with the installation and configuration of computers and printers for use on the network and provides support for system problems and issues, as required;

         Manages the ISO-required maintenance schedule for computers and printers;

     Provides  technical  support  for  FSPID’s  in-house  and  outside  activities,  such  as conferences, seminars, workshops and EXPOs, in-house filming/photography as required;

     Conducts assessments on hardware and software at Headquarters and external Divisions and prepares reports;

         Makes recommendations for software/hardware purchases/development;

         Delivers in-house ICT training to staff;

         Compiles and builds reports on Statutory Notices and certified food establishments.

     Good working knowledge of Information Generation and Information System Management techniques



Minimum Required Qualification and Experience


         Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Studies/Information Technology or related field;

         Two to three (2-3) years’ experience.



Special Conditions Associated with the Job


         Routine travel to FSPIDs external Divisions and meeting/event locations;

     Regularly required to  use  the  telephone  and sit  for  long  periods  at  a  desk  using  a computer;

         May be required to physically transport computer equipment from time to time;

         May be required to examine cables/equipment in a dusty or elevated environment.
