Food Storage Scientist (SOG/ST 6) Healthcare

Job Purpose

 

Under the direct supervision of the Senior Food Storage Scientist (SOG/ST 7), the Food Storage Scientist (SOG/ST 6) assists in all operations of the Training and Information Unit, by designing, developing, conducting and/or co-ordinating training programmes, workshops, seminars, etc., for: The Food Industry, Pest Management professionals, Food Storage and Prevention of Infestation Division staff and the general public with regard to integrated pest management in food areas and food safety.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Management/Administrative:

        Prepares monthly reports;

    Represents the Training and Information Unit at meetings, seminars, conferences and other fora;

        Maintains the Division’s Library, training facilities and equipment;

        Maintains the Unit’s filing system;

        Maintains all training related material and records.

 

Technical/Professional:

    Provides technical advice to the Food Industry, Pest Management professionals and the general public via consultations, handouts, booklets and exhibitions;

        Co-ordinates the Public Relations activities of the Food Storage and Prevention of

Infestation Division;

        Prepares training programmes proposals;

        Assists with the planning of training programmes, workshops, seminars etc.;

        Prepares and conducts lectures and training activities;

        Co-ordinate th Foo Storag an Preventio o Infestatio IS 9001

Certification activities;

    Assists  the  Food  Storage  and  Prevention  of  Infestation  Division’s  Laboratory Services Unit and Inspectorate with ISO/IEC 17025 and 17020 accreditation activities;


 

 

    Updates the FSPID’s list of active ingredients of pesticides allowed for use in food and food related areas;

    Assists   with   th productio o handbooks,   booklets   an othe technical documents/publication for the FSPI Division;

        Assists with the auditing of Pest Control Records;

        Performs any other related duties which may be assigned from time to time.

        Ability to use various training devices

 

 

Minimum Required Qualification and Experience

 

        First Degree in Natural Sciences;

        Two-three (2-3) years’ experience in a similar position.

 

 

Special Conditions Associated with the Job

 

        Will be required to travel island-wide and overseas;

        May be required to work overtime and on weekends;

        Undertake field work etc.
