Basic Salary: $1,090,553 - $1,349,425 p.a.

Job Purpose:

Under the direction of the Financial Accounts Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for ensuring that all bills, claims, vouchers, statements etc are properly checked for probity, propriety, regularity, authenticity etc. before certification and acceptance of charge as an accounts payable, thus ensuring that all accounts payables, are properly identified, and entered in the correct period to which they relate.

Key Responsibility Areas:

  • Performs the day to day processing of accounts payable transactions to ensure that Agency’s finances are maintained in an effective, up to date and accurate manner;
  • Maintains financial process controls, to ensure the probity, propriety and regularity of transactions;
  • Maintains record of all cyclical payments as well as all routine or ongoing contractual obligations. (e.g. utilities, rental, subsistence, travel claims, etc.)
  • Certifies and posts invoice batches created in SAGE AccPac accounting system in addition to the physical process before the vouchers are passed for authorization;
  • Certifies and posts receipt batches created in SAGE AccPac accounting system in addition to the physical process before the vouchers are passed for authorization;
  • Certifies invoices, travel claims, bills, contract payments, etc. and recorded information on payment vouchers ensuring the correctness of details regarding payees; amount payable; account code; relevance of payment; authority or file reference; cost centre and procurement process;
  • Analyses and maintains audit schedules for expense accounts or group accounts will a balance at $400,000 and above for audit review;
  • Reconciles accounts payables sub-ledger with general ledger balance and investigates variance;
  • Investigates and resolves enquiries and reconciling items for suppliers’ accounts;
  • Conduct year end closure procedures for Zonal Operation imprest.

Minimum Required Qualification and Experience:

  • B.Sc. in Accounting or Management Studies & Accounting OR

AAT Level 3 OR

ACCA-CAT Level 3 OR

ACCA Level 1 OR

Diploma in Government Accounting (MIND) OR

ASc. in (Accounting MIND)

Plus

  • Two (2) years’ experience in Government Accounting Procedures

Or

Any equivalent combination of academic qualification and experience
